Lung Cancer Treatment
Lung cancer, also known as lung carcinoma, is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth can spread beyond the lung by the process of metastasis into nearby tissue or other parts of the body.

DIAGNOSIS
- Imaging tests – MRI,PET, CT Scan
- Sputum cytology – Microscopic examination of phlegm.
- Bronchoscopy – While under sedation, a lighted tube is passed down your throat and into your lungs, for examination.
- Mediastinoscopy – The doctor makes an incision at the base of the neck. A lighted instrument is inserted to take samples from lymph nodes.
- Needle – Using imaging tests as a guide, a needle is inserted through the chest wall and into the suspicious lung tissue.

- Surgery: The most common operation is called a lobectomy in which the affected part of the lung is removed. Sometimes, the whole lung needs to be removed and this is called a pneumonectomy.
- Chemotherapy: This is the treatment of cancer with anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells while doing the least possible damage to normal cells.
- Radiotherapy: Radiotherapy is a procedure in which Lung Cancer is treated by using high energy gamma rays to destroy or inhibit cancer cells.
